Doctoral candidate

Profile

Marcello Maria Bozzini (born 1999) is a PhD researcher in Chemical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano (SuPER team, Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering “Giulio Natta”), under the supervision of Prof. Flavio Manenti. His work combines process modelling and simulation, optimization methods, and techno-economic assessment to support the development and scale-up of Waste-to-X pathways, with a specific focus on methanol production routes.

He obtained a BSc in Chemical Engineering in 2020 (Politecnico di Milano) and an MSc in Chemical Engineering in 2022, with a thesis on simulation-based process optimization (CORO – Capex/Opex Robust Optimizer). Alongside his doctoral research, he has been a Teaching Assistant for Chemical Plants II / Chemical Plants and Process Operation Management for multiple academic years. In 2025, he started a Visiting PhD position at Instituto Superior Técnico (CEGIST) in Lisbon, where his research includes the design and assessment of supply chains for bio-methanol production and utilization.
